Opsydia Commits to Transparency Through Technology with ORIGINALLUXURY Membership

At Opsydia, we believe the luxury sector has the power to make big, meaningful changes and achieve a fully transparent and traceable supply chain. To demonstrate our commitment to these goals, we have joined the esteemed membership of ORIGINALLUXURY, which aims to empower the luxury industry through academic knowledge and innovative tech.

Cooperation and collaboration in the diamond and precious coloured stone industries are essential to secure a more transparent, traceable and sustainable future. Three people who agree with this sentiment are Hans Schwab, Ayham Gorani and Margot Stuart, the Co-Founders of OriginAll, a platform that supports brands and governments in tackling counterfeiting and illicit trade. By enabling the identification and verification of genuinely traceable products, OriginAll is “providing clarity in a highly fragmented world” and innovating for the future.

One of the core solutions under the OriginAll umbrella is ORIGINALLUXURY. This initiative is focused on pioneering transparency through technology in the luxury sector, which naturally aligns with the Opsydia mission and our inherent values. Initially referred to as ‘THE INDEX’, ORIGINALLUXURY was established as a collaborative venture between OriginAll and E4S, UNIL-HEC, IMD, and The Swiss Center for Luxury Research, with the primary objective of assessing the effectiveness of transparency and traceability initiatives within the luxury sectors.

Opsydia partnered with VD Global to prepare a diamond with a bespoke Nano ID that was gifted to ORIGINALLUXURY.

Its mission is to empower luxury businesses with up-to-date knowledge from academia and insights from the technology sector, thus making informed best practice the best way forward. To demonstrate our support for this forward-thinking initiative, Opsydia has proudly become an ORIGINALLUXURY member and technology partner. Now, we strive to work alongside other brands, suppliers, and technology specialists to spark new ideas and encourage the adoption of fresh techniques, such as our Sub-Surface Nano IDs, that can improve transparency and traceability from mine to market.

Most recently, we were invited by ORIGINALLUXURY to participate in a panel discussion titled ‘Provenance, Traceability and Technology in the Diamond Industry’ at the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC). Taking place during the Kimberley Process Intersessional in May 2024, our CEO, Andrew Rimmer, joined a panel of experts to discuss the most interesting and innovative options available on the market today. Also sharing their views were Johanna Levy, Vice President of ESG at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA); Tracr CEO Wesley Tucker; iTraceiT CEO Frederik Degryse, and Sarine Technologies CEO David Block, all ably moderated by OriginAll’s CEO, Hans Schwab.

However, this is only the start. By participating in ORIGINALLUXURY’s roundtables and workshops and by providing insights for its reports, Opsydia is supporting a global shift towards a brighter future.
